This drawing is in the wall, but also is happening in your mind. it’s very simple, but makes me think in a lot of things. A very good excuse to share, and also i recomend to try untangle the strings, it’s very relaxing and makes a nice sound. I hope you enjoy it. En mi trabajo hago referencia a ciertos aspectos comunes y corrientes de nuestra rutina diaria y de nuestras ocupaciones; la casa, el trabajo, el alimento, la educación, y los afectos y esfuerzos que todo esto implica, son mis constantes preocupaciones y son también, el recurso inicial de mi producción. Poner la mirada en detalles casi insignificantes ha sido la manera de orientar mi producción en estos últimos años.

En la construcción de mi obra, conjugo principalmente dos factores: Por una parte, el hallazgo de un material específico, cargado no sólo de una apariencia sensorialmente atractiva, sino también de una función determinada; y, por otra, el trabajo manual. Una manipulación directa -casi siempre laboriosa, pero sin tecnologías- es el medio a través del cual, intento transformar un material u objeto particular, otorgándole un nuevo significado (artístico).

En mis trabajos incorporo elementos naturales, como plantas, agua y alimentos, los que aportan una noción de temporalidad, vida y potencial cambio. Estos los combino generalmente con objetos de producción industrial  -un tanto ordinarios-, que dan cuenta de una economía al alcance de cualquiera. Mercancías precarias son el recurso necesario para establecer tensiones, con una serie de gestos sumamente delicados y esforzados. De cierta forma, se trata de una relación de resistencias, de encontrar un punto exacto entre fuerza y fragilidad.

I try to do my work as well as I try to do my other duties in life, so I include art in my daily routine. Off course, for me, art becomes (in)one of the most important issues, but still, there are times when life and its complexity put the idea of being an artist at a very low (point) priority. So it’s a constant tension between these two extremes.

I’m saying this because it is in that point of tension where I stand to start working, exactly in that state of resistance.

So, I work with a high sense of economy and efficiency (economizing resources), but without losing the delicacy and the care for what we do.

I could say that my work is developed between some disciplines such as drawing, weaving and sculpture or production of objects.

I usually choose materials that are easy to find, most of them are very cheap and common, sometime they are of industrial origin, and some other times they are organic materials.

There are two things that are very important for me, in my work process; the first one is the materials and the references that they bring into the work; and the second one is the technique, that becomes in a gesture, at the moment that, the result, expresses all the time and dedication invested in it. A symbolic gesture of giving value to something that is supposed to mean nothing.

Then those aspects of work complements the context in which the work was made or exhibited.

I think the results are almost like glimpses at a more beautiful, yet unattainable world.
